Hotjar

We use Hotjar to better understand our users’ needs and to optimise the offering and experience on this website. Hotjar’s technology gives us a better understanding of our users’ experiences (for example, how much time users spend on which pages, which links they click, what they like and dislike, etc.) and helps us align our offering with user feedback. Hotjar uses cookies and other technologies to collect data about our users’ behaviour and their devices, in particular the device’s IP address (which is only collected and stored in anonymised form while you use the website), screen size, device type (unique device identifiers), information about the browser used, location (country only), and the language preferred for viewing our website. Hotjar stores this information on our behalf in a pseudonymised user profile. Hotjar is contractually prohibited from selling data collected on our behalf.

Hotjar uses cookies and tracking codes to collect user data for website operators. Among other things, the tracking codes collect:

Facebook Pixel

The so-called “Facebook Pixel” of the Facebook social network, operated by Facebook Ireland Limited, 4 Grand Canal Square, Dublin 2, Ireland (“Facebook”), is used within our online offering.

When a user clicks on an advertisement placed by us that is displayed on Facebook, Facebook Pixel appends a parameter to the URL of our linked page. If our page allows data sharing with Facebook via the pixel, this URL parameter is written to the user’s browser in a cookie set by our linked page itself. Facebook Pixel then reads this cookie and enables the data to be forwarded to Facebook.

With the help of Facebook Pixel, Facebook can, on the one hand, identify visitors to our online offering as a target group for displaying advertisements (so-called “Facebook Ads”). Accordingly, we use Facebook Pixel to show our Facebook Ads only to Facebook users who have also shown an interest in our online offering or who have certain characteristics (e.g. interests in specific topics or products determined by the websites visited) that we transmit to Facebook (so-called “Custom Audiences”). With the help of Facebook Pixel, we also want to ensure that our Facebook Ads correspond to users’ potential interests and are not bothersome. This also enables us to evaluate the effectiveness of Facebook advertising for statistical and market research purposes by tracking whether users were redirected to our website after clicking a Facebook advertisement (so-called “conversion”).

The data collected is anonymous to us and therefore does not allow us to draw conclusions about users’ identities. However, the data is stored and processed by Facebook, so that a connection to the respective user profile is possible and Facebook may use the data for its own advertising purposes in accordance with Facebook’s data use policy (https://www.facebook.com/about/privacy/). The data may enable Facebook and its partners to place advertisements on and outside Facebook.

The data processing associated with the use of Facebook Pixel takes place only with your explicit consent pursuant to Article 6(1)(a) GDPR. You may withdraw your consent at any time with effect for the future.

Use of Google Ads Conversion Tracking

This website uses the online advertising programme “Google Ads” and, as part of Google Ads, conversion tracking provided by Google Ireland Limited, Gordon House, 4 Barrow St, Dublin, D04 E5W5, Ireland (“Google”). We use Google Ads to draw attention to our attractive offers on external websites through advertising materials (so-called Google AdWords). Based on campaign data, we can determine how successful individual advertising measures are. Our aim is to show you advertising that is of interest to you, make our website more interesting for you, and calculate advertising costs fairly.

The conversion tracking cookie is set when a user clicks on an ad served by Google. Cookies are small text files stored on your device. These cookies generally expire after 30 days and are not used for personal identification. If the user visits certain pages of this website and the cookie has not yet expired, Google and we can recognise that the user clicked on the ad and was redirected to that page. Each Google Ads customer receives a different cookie. Cookies therefore cannot be tracked across the websites of Google Ads customers. The information obtained using the conversion cookie is used to create conversion statistics for Google Ads customers who have opted for conversion tracking. Customers learn the total number of users who clicked on their ad and were redirected to a page tagged for conversion tracking. However, they do not receive information that can personally identify users.

If you do not wish to participate in tracking, you can block this use by disabling the Google Conversion Tracking cookie in your web browser under “user settings”. You will then not be included in conversion tracking statistics. We use Google Ads on the basis of our legitimate interest in targeted advertising pursuant to Article 6(1)(f) GDPR. When using Google Ads, personal data may also be transferred to the servers of Google LLC in the USA.
